Hi, my name is Jessica and I’m a special elf... an “Angel Elf”
I’m leaving a GOLDEN Legacy Here is my story:
I was born June 25, 2001 and when I was 1.5 years old I came to London to my “fur-ever” home all the way from Alberta...and I came on a plane all by myself! Let me tell you, I was VERY happy and grateful to see my forever parents and I think they were glad to see me too.
I used to love taking my parents for a walk. They were great and wherever I wanted to go, they just followed me...rain, snow, hot or cold...didn’t matter. I was just happy to be on the other end of their leash and they were happy to be on mine. I knew my mom and dad loved me SO much and really, life was GRAND!
You’ll like this story - I remember one time my dad took me to the farm where the GOADogs lived. Lots of room to run and play there. Well, I might have gotten on the “Naughty List”...oops. I rolled in raccoon poop (hee hee). My dad wasn’t as happy about it as I was and he had to put me in a garbage bag to bring me home. Don’t worry though, he left my head sticking out of the bag. I looked pretty funny!
One thing I really loved was car rides and fortunately for me, mom and dad never went anywhere without me. If I couldn’t go...they didn’t go. WOW eh? That’s dedication. They REALLY loved me!
I had a paw-some life and enjoyed every minute of it but when I was 13.5 years old, I guess my time on earth was done and I got called away to Rainbow Bridge. That was on September 17, 2014.
One of the first dogs I ran into here was Danielle. She was the very first GOADog who helped start Golden Opportunity Assistance Dogs. I was thrilled to find her there so I’d have someone to hang out with. She told me I should enlist to be an “Angel Elf” just like her and help out each Christmas with the annual “12 Days of Christmas” campaign back on earth. She said I could leave a GOLDEN Legacy.
So that’s what I’m doing. I’m so excited to be able to help make a difference. I’ve run into a bunch of other “Angel Elves” at “Rainbow Bridge” and we’ve exchanged stories about all the friends on our “Nice Lists”. Small world isn’t it? I’m proud of my gold hat and my GOLDEN Legacy.
I may not be here in body any longer but I’m still here in SPIRIT...CHRISTMAS SPIRIT!
Will you make a donation in my memory or in memory of a special pet who has touched your life? It would mean a lot to me, to my family, to the GOADogs and especially to someone who needs them!
PS. We’re all doing fine here...don’t worry about us. You’ll be here too some day and we’ll be waiting for you. xoxo Jessica (woof)
